This site presents a working record of Virginia’s obsolete currency—the notes, the issuers, and the people behind them. It brings together material from my collection with ongoing archival research into the banks, railroads, insurance companies, and merchants who once supplied paper money to communities across the Commonwealth. Each entry aims to clarify an issuer’s history, correct catalog errors, and place surviving notes back into their original commercial setting. The goal is simple: to document Virginia’s financial past with accuracy, context, and a focus on the human stories preserved in its paper.
I am an active collector and buyer. While I enjoy all types, my focus is on Virginia private scrip.
